Jal Urja Mitra
The Jal Urja Mitra Skill Development Programme is a government-sponsored initiative by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India. It’s run in collaboration with IIT Roorkee.
This program focuses on training individuals to become Small Hydro Plant technicians. These technicians are trained to handle various tasks such as operating, testing, and maintaining different electrical, mechanical, and civil components of Small Hydro Power Plants.
Their role is crucial in ensuring that these power plants operate efficiently and reliably. They are trained to prioritize quality workmanship and adhere to all relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements to meet performance and reliability standards.
Surya Mitra
The National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) is a government institute under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy in India. It was established by converting the former Solar Energy Centre to focus on research and technology related to solar energy.
One of NISE’s initiatives is the Suryamitra programme. This program aims to train young people in the skills needed for installing, operating, and maintaining solar energy projects, both in India and overseas.
Additionally, the Surya mitra program is designed to empower candidates to start their own businesses in the solar energy sector, thereby contributing to the growth of renewable energy and creating more employment opportunities.

Recognition Of Prior Learning (RPL)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a skill certification component to enable Indian Youth to take on industry relevant skill certification which will help them to secure a better livelihood.
RPL is very useful for those who have the experience, knowledge and skills required to work in a profession but have no educational qualification.
It largely refers to an assessment process used to evaluate a person’s existing skill sets, knowledge and experience gained either by formal, non-formal or informal learning.
